How to create a new database user with cPanel

cPanel is fantastically easy to use. Most web masters will find they need few other tools to enable them to manage their sites, files, databases and emails. As easy as cPanel is to operate, it can take a few weeks to get to grips with all its features.

In this guide you will learn how to create a new database user and how to add that user to an existing database.

If you want to create a new database and a new user together then this guide is not the guide you want to read.

How to create a new database user

  1. log into cPanel
  2. click the MySQL Databases icon
  3. scroll to MySQL Users
  4. Enter a new username and password
  5. click Create User

A confirmation screen will show once the new user is created. Copy the user’s details so you don’t forget them then click Go back at the bottom of the page.

How to add a database user to a database

  1. log into cPanel
  2. click the MySQL Databases icon
  3. scroll to Add User to Database
  4. select the user and the database in the dropdown select boxes
  5. click Add
  6. on the new screen, select all database privileges
  7. click Make Changes
